Originality in Blogging

There is a fresh trend I love so much in the blogosphere, I am not talking about clothing but how some girls over here are being true to themselves and spread positive energy. Don’t get me wrong, I love talking about clothes, that’s why I actually started my blog, I had no one to talk to and my husband is most disinterested in why I can’t find the perfect over the knee boots for petites.

About a year ago I started this blog with the hope to find similar thinking alike minds; my expectations have been fulfilled and exceeded. There is a handful of blogs I love to read on a daily basis, a file with my 10 favorite blogs is saved on my computer. My girls write from their heart and their personality is shining bright. Some are wearing Chanel and others H&M, some are flying first class and others Ryanair. They have one feature in common and that’s originality. If you are reading this post, have a blog or thinking about starting a blog. Close your social media apps open and word file and write, write about who you are, aspire to inspire. I assure you, you will succeed.

There’s been a talk lately about an oversaturated field; I don’t feel there is an oversaturation of fashion bloggers but lack of originality. I know you’ve done your homework; you know very well what’s working for Instagram but is that really you? That’s the question, you need to ask. I’d love to encourage you to be true to yourself, be raw, be wild and I will follow you!

There have been quite some people I’ve unfollowed for the exact same reason; I draw inspiration not from fashion bloggers any longer. I shared my thoughts with a friend very far from the field, he said what would you expect, fashion is very superficial. I disagree fashion is not superficial, after all clothes are made for people and not museums or vitrine shops. I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter, whether you are a blogger or a reader.

I love your comment that clothes are made for people! I think the obsession of getting the perfect Instagram theme or not posting something you want to just because it doesn’t fit with the aesthetic of your blog is totally wrong. But I guess it all comes down to why you started your blog, and I always think you can tell the difference between people who type with passion and are genuine than those who are just trying to get as many followers as possible.

Very thought provoking T- there is a lot out there and each one of us needs to filter as to what it is we want to receive.
In my IG feed I post about places, nature, accessories and such, as for my blog its just what I wear.
I have to add that fashion is not superficial, its like that nicely dressed girl who also happens to be smart 😉

Beautifully written! I personally struggle with blogging and social media. On one hand I love that it encourages me to take risks with my looks (eg, wear something more feminine, try new makeup looks), but on the other hand it’s challenging to find that balance where I still feel like myself. But I do know if I post myself wearing something that is just not me, like a frilly off-shoulder dress…that would just be…BAD. Haha!

I love your text and I think it’s so true! I always put so much emphasis on a nice text, on a funny and entertaining text that should inspire and still reflecting my personal opinion, style and personality. But sometimes it’s also a bit frustrating, because people are so visually focused, and just like the pics without reading the content…but in the end it’s about passion and I cannot resist writing…even if it was only for myself :-)!
I also disagree with people that call fashion superficial…I think everybody knows the impact of what you wear on how you feel. Don’t you feel super happy and pretty in a beautiful summer dress?! I love fashion and the power of it! And I love your blog :-)!

What a wonderful and important blogpost, my dear Tatiana!
Loving this topic and your opinion upon that.
I realized after blogging for about a year now that it has changed my view and also personality a lot and sadly I have to admit that I ceded a lot of my “uniqueness” during that process, because I thought I have to be someone else to be a good blogger. Nevermind – I’m back on the right track! 😉
Have a lovely evening, my dear!

    Lots of love your way,
    Katharina

Great post and thoughts my darling Tatjana. I don’t think that blogging and fashion world is over saturated, maybe lack of originality as you very well said. What works for someone else doesn’t mean it will work for you. Personality and original style is what makes anyone differ in every field, besides, which field or profession is not saturated right? Having said that, I like to follow fashion trends but only if they are something I can pull of and fits my personal style and what I believe is beautiful.
I really admire you for your originality but the way!
Much love and thanks for sharing!

I love this post, T. It’s not all about what we wear, though I love that little blue dress you are wearing. Being us. Being true to ourselves. Whether I have been spreading positive energy lately, is debatable.
Knowing you have been visiting castles recently. Yesterday I had a lunch date in nearby Arundel Castle. A private function no less. English Castles are chilly places at the best of times, and yesterday was cold. With a walk through the estate afterwards, what to wear was important. I went kitted out for the Arctic.
    Hugs, Jo

Arundel Castle Looks enomous Jo, wow!
You do spead positive energy on my blog, we all have our lows, it’s good to talk about it.
Hope you had a good time yesterday and it wasn’t too cold for you!
Have a good week dear Jo!

The Castle is enormous, the estate even more so. Actually, the Castle isn’t that old, compared to some. Most of the outer walls and rooms date from around the mid 1800s. The inner parts, back to William the Conqueror. I had a wonderful day, T. Lots of warming foods, and wrapped in layers (not the food; me), I was ready for anything.
Oh,T. I am feeling incredibly well again. I pray that this newfound wellness lasts.
Hope you have a happy week.
        Love and hugs, Jo x

I love this post! It spoke straight to me. I have recently disabled my IG account to collect myself and regain focus on why I started this journey. Very nicely stated! Originality is key, and it’s lost these days.

I would love to find out what your favorite inspiring bloggers are as I’m looking for the same when I decide to follow and support somebody in the same field!

Sending all the positive vibes your way!
