• How to Take Care of your Clothes

A few weeks ago I noticed a girl wearing this striped pink t-shirt from Hallhuber (here). My first reaction was happiness as I rarely see other people wearing the same garment as me but on a second note, hers had been nearly destroyed. Now Hallhuner is a brand I love and trust, I wouldn’t normally spend 30€ on a t-shirt but I know the quality will reward in time. I’ve washed this t-shirt more than 15 times and it is still in immaculate condition.

I have a feeling more often than not while most people love shopping and styling outfits but neglect the part where you have to take care of what’s already in your wardrobe. Taking good care of your clothes will guarantee longevity, save the environment and keep you in style.

Washing your clothes is the basic, most important step in preserving longevity. Each item has unique instructions written on it, read carefully, do not mix colors and textures and please avoid tumble dryers.

Use a mesh bag to wash your delicates and keep bras folded to maintain the cup shape.

With the change of seasons, clothes should be washed and tucked away. In my wardrobe, the current season faces the front while the other seasons are packed neatly at the back.

Knitted items need to always be folded, same goes for jeans while clothes which wrinkle easily I preferably hang them.

Do not overcrowd your wardrobe to avoid wrinkles, accidents and wear down sensitive garments.

Do you have extra tips taking care of your clothes? I personally can be prickly regarding the washing and storage, M doesn’t get near the washing machine and wardrobe unless to mess up my organization system that is.

If you want to kill me slowly just say you wash everything together. I’ve heard it a couple of times, it really hurt!

I have top like yours, T, but in blue stripes. I love it. That pleated skirt is beautiful, but must take some looking after. They always did. You didn’t mention lavender. Little bags of it in wardrobes and draws to keep moths at bay. Or is it only in this country that they are a pest? I agree about tumble dryers. Nasty things. Many bits I hand wash and iron only the bits that show. Irons cause damage too.

Oh, this post feels close to home. I ruined an Armani suit after placing it in the washing machine and then the dryer… it was awful.
