Visiting Garda Lake and Verona in Winter

You must have realized through my endless Instagram Stories (here) Max and I spent New Year together with friends and family in Garda Lake, Italy. We drove early in the morning from Frankfurt all the way to Italy, for 8 hours drive with only a short stop in Nuremberg to pick up a friend. The above view greeted us while driving in snake-narrow streets, the skies were pink and the Garda lake’s waters peaceful. Max pulled over and all three of us took out our cameras to capture few pictures and then just enjoy the view.

Winter in Italy, far from the touristic crowds is an intirely different experience. You will meet the occasional sun-deprived German here and there and even Verona city was nearly empty. It goes without saying, we absolutely loved it. We woke up, at our leisure each day and soaked up in sunshine with a cup of coffee if we were lucky enough to find an open cafe.

Verona is only one hour drive from Garda Lake, and I do hope this post will inspire you to visit them both if life brings you to this side of the world. If I am being honest, other than some Hollywood movies I had no idea about this city. I was positively impressed, Verona is simply stunning and I do hope we find the time to visit and photograph each corner in the near future.

I love Lake Garda, and the surrounding area; Verona too. I have visited them many times. And the mountains in the background, T, the Dolomites, I have walked and climbed them.
