Nearly all our friends have been married off but I remember this time of the year I would always struggle with finding dresses to wear to each wedding. Especially the year we were getting married we were attending 5 other weddings. Over the years I have talked to some of my friends about wedding dress code and honestly, things can become complicated from bride to bride, add to that different cultures and ”complicated” upgrades to overwhelming, very quickly. For example, lace is a NO, bright bold colors too, wearing something that draws too much attention is a NO, revealing is, of course, a NO. I had a bride that took a personal offense that member of the family wore a beige colored dress! The (crazy) wedding Stories I have are endless but because I have been a bride, a pretty relaxed one I want to believe, here are my two-cents thoughts regarding the wedding dress attire.
If you are attending a wedding of a close friend or a family member, please ask in advance about the dress code, that will make your life so much easier and the bride happier. Do not ever, ever wear jeans (I’ve seen that in a wedding), it doesn’t matter how small a wedding is, taking care of how you look shows how much you respect the couple. We had only 45 people at our wedding and some of the women had been to the hairdresser; to me that meant more than a hefty wedding gift. Regarding the bold colors, or whether you should wear lace, as a bride I found that unimportant but for some people it is, so communicating with the bride-to-be is essential.
As a general rule, something that I have concluded after attending so many weddings is, this day is NOT about you. A wedding day is all about the bride and the groom, a sense of selflessness and making these two people happy is always very appreciated. Be that a modest dress or never leaving the dance floor, even if the music isn’t that great.

Asos Design offers a wide range of wedding guest dresses at affordable prices and of excellent quality, like this off shoulder orange dress (here), this flower long dress (here) and this long ball skirt (here). Marchesa Note (here) has this beautiful, elegant midi dress with a back cut out; another piece that caught my attention is this crochet dress from Self Portrait (here), perfect if the wedding takes place in colder climates. My favorite of all is this midi, yellow floral dress from Rebecca Taylor (here), add to this look these glam earrings (here) or (here) and this wooden clutch from Inge Christopher (here).
