Compartmentalization

I would like to share with you a personal story this time. I confide that in my family we are closely bounded to each other. We all share an ‘all for one and one for all’ state of mind, it is something I take proud in and look up.

For months now we have been through a nerve-wracking, worried to the bone situation. The anticipation of it took the breath out of me. I kept thinking and dreaming of that moment when I receive positive news. In that moment, oh that moment I would take in a delicious diaphragmatic breathing, abandon anything I was working on, call M. hop on our bikes and have a glass of cold Riesling in our favorite bar.

The happy news arrived this week by Viber, with a few seconds delay of more worrisome problems. Did I enjoy that happy moment? You might be wondering did I have that glass of Riesling; sadly the answer is no. I’ve talked before on the blog about an emotional compartmentalization project I’ve been working on.  This project is about acquiring the talent of willingly switch off conflicting feelings because by darlings there will always be problems to be solved but happy moments only few. I would not want to elaborate much on that, you all know what I mean.
