The Atzelsberg Castle

What I haven’t been told you is my mother is in town. I have skipped a few posts here and there, she has priority now. My mom and I would talk long on the phone, she loves hearing details around my life in Germany.

A while back I was visiting the Atzelberg Castle as a wedding guest. I had to take her there, she had to see for herself. She knows about the castles being referred first in texts in the 15 hundred.  The place has been destroyed and restored many times over. It’s located in Marloffstein, close to Erlangen, in the 1961 the place was purchased by the city of Erlangen and sold again as it was in dire need of renovation, hence a large capital.

Indeed, it has been beautifully renovated and it is a sight for the eyes not only about the Baroque architecture but the surrounding nature as well. Due to a bank holiday we were the first to step on untouched snow. The serenity of snow-covered nature and the peace it imprints on you is an incomparable feeling.

The traveling itinerary for the upcoming posts include lots of castles and beautiful cities we are blessed with here in Bavaria. I’ll take you will me.
