A girl’s guide to outdoor clothing

_DSC9549 blog.jpg

My darlings we all have that special person in our lives, who engage or shall I say inspire us in activities we would never otherwise do. The first time, M. dragged me to an outdoor store to equip me high-tech clothing for outdoor activities,  I swear my eyebrows touched my hair, couldn’t believe how expensive these things are!

I had a talk with a friend who works for Adidas few months ago, he pointed out that sports clothing and especially for outdoor activities are developed by a team of engineers and there is a whole science behind it. In other words, outdoor clothes are made to endure extreme conditions and last if not forever for a very long time.

You will buy it only once so choose wisely. Trust you do not want to save money on cheap materials and sacrifice the pair of heels you desire for months when your other half drags you on a 4 days hiking trip.

Here is what you’ll need:

  1. A good rain jacket made of waterproof materials. I got mine from Jack Wolfskin and I have to say I do wear it very ofter as it rains just as much in Germany and I move around on my bike. Not very glamorous I know…A small tip here very careful how you clean your high-tech clothing always read the description label. I learned the hard way.
  2. The shoes, I would suggest you go for the boots instead of simply shoes. It will probably get very hot in there in summer but trust you will be better protected from spraining your ankle when walking on an uneven terrain.
  3. Regarding the trousers, you’ll need waterproof as well. I was so lucky to get mine in kid’s section for less that half the price.
  4. The underwear or so-called functional underwear I would always go for merino wool as they’re very warm and extremely soft. A small tip here; go crazy with the colors. I personally like to look like a rainbow when outdoors, it breaks the monotony.
